Rail tunnel on cards to avoid landslides in ghats

Central Railway is considering boring a tunnel in the ghat section of the Mumbai-Pune line to prevent disruptions in service during the monsoon due to falling boulders and landslides. This monsoon, the route has been closed since August 3, making the closure the longest in its history.
