4 pvt labs in Mum get ICMR nod to start testing

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Sunday gave its nod to four private laboratories from Mumbai, including Thyrocare, Suburban Diagnostics, Metropolis Healthcare Ltd Mumbai and H N Reliance Foundation Hospital, to start testing for coronavirus.

Mumbai: Milk booths, grocers may shut shop today

Localized shortage of essential items such as milk, bread, eggs and restaurant food marked the first day of the city’s Covid-19 lockdown. A complete closure is expected on Sunday due to the Prime Minister’s ‘Janata Curfew’ followed by a period of dormancy over the next few days until March 31.

Skies clear, AQI drops as Mumbai stays indoors

As the city slows to fight Covid-19, its air has seen a decline in pollutant levels, found a report by System of Air Quality Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR). According to SAFAR, there was a 45% drop in concentration of nitrogen oxide (NOx) this month compared to March 2018 and 2019. A drop in concentration of PM 2.5 too was seen since restrictions were imposed.

Mum: Cop accused of rape, assault by wife booked

BMC directs 9 pvt hosps to start isolation wards

BMC on Wednesday directed nine major private hospitals and a railway facility to reserve, in all, about 90 beds for Covid-19 patients. It said the beds are likely to be offered at concessional rates —at least 50% the usual charge.

Coronavirus: HC relief for girl stuck in Dubai

Bombay high court directed the Indian immigration authorities to issue a visa to a 19-year-old student, stranded alone in Dubai due to coronavirus travel advisories. It said it was in view of her young age, she was without her family, and could not have been denied permission to board a connecting flight from Dubai, when she had travelled from US on March 12. But it clarified that its order was not to be used as a precedent in other cases.
