Suicides up 7% in Mumbai, down in rest of India

In a grim indicator of high levels of stress in the financial city, the number of suicides committed in Mumbai rose 7.4% between 2015 and 2016, according to the National Crime Records Bureau’s data analysis for 2016. What makes the increase grimmer is the fact that the total number of suicides in the country dipped 2% during the same period.
