Traffic cops too want Rs 10k illegal parking fine

A day after BMC announced it will charge a very steep penalty for illegal parking, the traffic police, after a meeting with civic officials on Thursday, decided to write to the state government, requesting changes in the Motor Vehicle Act so that they can impose up to Rs 10,000 as fine for parking in no-parking areas. At present, the penalty is Rs 200.
