Encourage India to look at alternatives, says US official on S-400 defence missile deal with Russia

Ahead of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to India next week, an official of the Donald Trump administration said that the visit aims to deepen and broaden the bilateral relationship and kick-start a dialogue towards the resolution of some key issues. Speaking on India's S-400 defence missile deal with Russia, a senior State Department official said in a conference call on Friday that this was the time when the US will be encouraging India to look at alternatives.
