With the countdown to New Year's Eve beginning, police on Sunday took extra steps to ensure Bengaluru ushers in 2019 without any untoward incidents. Hotels, bars and restaurants have been permitted to remain open till 2am on January 1. Police permission is must for private parties, if they are large affairs with loud music, liquor and have commercial considerations.
