Malayali author bags India's richest book prize

South Indian literary master Benyamin was awarded 2018 JCB Prize for Literature for his novel Jasmine Days. The story follows a young woman caught up in the Arab Spring protests of 2011. It is India's most expensive literature prize with a cash prize of 25 lakh INR and a trophy. 5 lakh INR was awarded to Shahnaz Habib, who translated the book to English.
