Midget idols, large mandaps bind festivities

The pattern of Ganeshotsav celebrations on the outskirts of the city is diametrically opposite to Mumbai. The pandals are large and creative but the idols are small and beautiful, averaging 2.5-12 ft. Conversely in Mumbai, large 20-30 ft idols are squeezed into mid-sized enclosures.
